  • kind of off topic…. displays with “mirror”-screens any good?

    hi,
i’m currently planning to get me a 20 inch display
either a dell or the new acer with the “mirror” screen (like the macbook)

are these (acer and macbook) good for doing color gradings etc. –
or do they display too beautiful – i mean do they kind of
make things look better than they actually are?????

    any thoughts highly appreciated!!!
    regards
    stefan

    Stefan,

You can. The problem is that LCD are hard to callibrate correctly, if they can be calibrated at all. And if you are working in standard def NTSC, you probably won’t catch problem areas until you burn a DVD. A broadcast monitor through firewire or otherwise is always best.

In many cases, a CRT computer monitor is still better than an LCD as well.
