Now that the LANC function is enabled would it be possible to use it for remote start/stop of recording? I’m thinking a pan bar mounted zoom demand like those from Beebob that connect to LANC and have a record button.

Yeah, thats about the same amount of time as an HDSR tape deck.

and that is faster than a Red One does.

True, but about 10x as long as the Nanoflash!
If you’re working with quick/unpredictable subjects you can either leave it powered up (using lots of power) or potentially miss a lot of action.

I guess that is the price for getting 10bit I-frame recording instead of 8bit MXF.

Suppose so. I wonder how long the Ki Pro mini would run for with a standard say IDX E10 95wh battery, and whether overheating would be a problem?
I must say I definitely do prefer the Ki Pro as a unit, but this start up time would be an issue, as would the still slightly unclear situation with the Varicam. Still not sure if I could get 25P with audio from it. Even if it would not play natively, if the flags are recorded would it then go into an NLE OK? With FCP I understand that the software frame rate converter only works with DVCPro material?
