Hi all just wondering if anyone can help.

I have unwisely filmed someone against a green screen using chromatte who was wearing glasses. I am now keying the footage in Final Cut Pro and am having problems when the light occasionally reflects green on the lens of their glasses and I get little holes appearing in the middle of them for a second or two.

I was just wondering if it was possible to create some sort of mask in FCP that I could place over the glasses so that the keying is not applied to that part of the footage.

Or if anyone has any alternative suggestions as to get around this problem I would be very gratefull to hear them.

    Cheers all.

You can try masking with FC. If you don’t get good results you can rotoscope in AE or Shake them export the mask and use it in FC.

You might want to consider a better keyer than the built in one. Try DVMatte from DV Garage.

You can pull the key and get a good matte for the edges of your subject. Then you can simply place a white solid over the part with the holes (i.e. the glasses), nest those clips. Put the nest below a copy of the original clip, meaning nest is v2, original clip v3, bg clip v1 then use the matte layer (the nest) as a travel matte. It works great.
