Keying, Mattes, alpha-keying questions
Hi there,
I’m editing on a Matrox Axio using PPro 2.0. I’m new to PPro world. I’m trying to figure out the keying. One thing I’m trying to do is fill a torn edged matte box with video and then key it over background footage so it can be manipulated. I can get one half of the key accomplished by just alpha keying….but cannot fill the other side. Is there a way to asign an alpha key to the other side?
I’ve also tried image matte which works with some mattes but not others.(Don’t know why) The problem I’m having with image matte is that once I apply the matte I cannot figure out how to move either the matte or the footage so I can adjust the image filling the matte.
Also, I cannot figure out how to get an offset drop shadow in image matte.
Any ideas would be very helpful.
Also, I’ve read the manual and have just finished the total training tapes for 1.5. Do you have any suggestions on what books or online course teach more about the video effects with PPro 2.0?

You should be using a Track Matte. Your torn edge matte should be white on one side and black on the other. If you put footage on track one, and footage on track two, and the track matte on track three, and apply the track matte effect to the clip in track two, then it should show one tack on one side of the matte, and the other track on the other side of the matte.
