Keying makes subject a bit transparent
Posted by Ryan Santos on December 16, 2010 at 9:51 amI used keylight to key out a blue screen. When I clicked on the blue screen using the eyedropper, the actors become somewhat transparent as I can see the layer beneath the actors’ layer. I tried clicking on different parts of the blue screen and the same thing happens. Why is this happening? What can I do to keep the actors from being semi-transparent. Thanks and God bless.

December 16, 2010 at 10:02 amYou need to check out some tutorials for keylight. It’s not just a matter of picking up the color with the color picker, but of adjusting the parameters of the plugin. Here’s some useful links:

December 16, 2010 at 3:34 pmHere’s a very handy guide to keying that everyone should read.
Also, there are other ways to key besides using Keylight. And many times different parts of a shot need to be keyed in different ways. Sometimes with different effects, but certainly diffeerent settings. Usually the pros use different keying for hair than for the body and often different body parts get keyed differently. (See this tutorial.)
There’s a lot of good information and a lot of useful links on keying here. There’s also a whole section of keying tutorials here at Creative COW.– The Great Szalam

December 16, 2010 at 4:58 pmMy only problem with that link is that the address has the word cial—-is in it, so my posts keep getting delayed for moderation. As if I, an active member for many years, has suddenly become a spambot. On the one hand, it’s kinda funny, but I often don’t post that link because the filter irritates me.
