Hi, I’m currently working on a documentary and have a subject I am working with that was shot on a green screen with a SD Cannon XL1.
The footage looks good and well lit. I’m in AE using keylight to key, and then exporting the RGB+Alpha to bring into Final Cut 2. In Final Cut I am adding background and b roll edits.
So here’s my problem: Along the hair edge of my subject I’m getting this horrible flutter. Especially on darker backgrounds. I’ve tried different settings and techniques of keying with standard definition, but it’s still not great. I need help. I found a posting here by Dave LaRonde (https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/2/931091#931104)
that I’m going to try. Would anyone be willing to take a look at a clip? Have any suggestions? Let me know… Thanks so much!!

    Jared

Thanks for the advice. You are right about my problem, and DV does stink for chroma key. I’m going to try what you suggested, even if it does up my render time quite a bit. We have to make it the best we can, right?
I’ve seen DV keys that look much better than what I’m doing.

I’m still down for any other suggestions. Thanks
