Keying and Rotoscoping question?
Hi guys I’m now working on a small production company and some of my colleagues (video editor/compositor) have been here for years now…. ANYWAY I’ve seen them work for long hours working on badly shot footages and asked them how they managed to correct them… their answer… rotoscoping (if worse comes to worse) I did asked them if they ever use the numerous keying methods in After effects and they said – Final Cut Keyer is okay… and I guess the problem lies in not knowing HOW and WHEN to use these plugins… (Another problem is that being a third world country – when you apply for the position as video editor – you’re expected to be a GREAT COMPOSITOR as well – call that multitasking… plus there are no available schools here (Philippines) to actually teach these things.!
Anyway I know that eventually I would encounter the same problem… I was wondering if there are tutorials (beginners) on how and when to use the numerous keying plugins in After Effects? and also the Matte Tools in AE… I want to learn WHEN and HOW to use them…
I was wondering if Creative cow could do a tutorial when to use a particular keying effect and perhaps more advance one’s like combining them etc… Ive also heard about Walker Tools/Effects but I’ve been to their site amd there are no available tutorials there…
I want to learn the numerous methods to isolate a footage so that I would only resort to rotoscoping knowing that there are no other choices available… I hope my post makes sense… (If creatve cow could do a tutorial on using Walker Effects too I would gladly appreciate it)… anyway I hope you post your comments especially from the experts…
Or if not you could just post some sites where I could start…. I know some of you would suggest reading the online help – hey I’ve been reading them… But I guess I need real world “tested” tips/guidance from the experts here…. Again thanks a lot. and I would appreciate any comments/insights on this topic…
