Keyframing masks
I am trying to do an effect for a wedding video where there is a shot of the bride facing the camera and the groom is a few feet behind her looking at her…..I want to make the entire scene in Black and White except for the bride and have the background be blurred as well……I am doing this by using 2 layers…layer 1 has mask around bride revealing only her and layer 2 has B&W effect and blur effect. This all looks very nice except I zoom in the shot and pan a little bit. My question is how do I get the mask to follow the bride without setting a key frame on every single frame? The scene is 9 seconds so I would have to adjust the position of the mask 270 times which will take weeks. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make this easier?

Yep, as Dave says, there’s an overview of rotoscoping in After Effects Help. It points to a great Creative COW training DVD by Pete O’Connell (and some other resources) for some in-depth instructions.
