  • Keyframing color correction?

Posted by Nick Ryan on March 28, 2006 at 7:53 pm

    The scenario is thus…

Taped a live stage event. Need to keyframe color correction on several lighting transitions.

The question: When I’ve determined what one set of values is for one keyframe (for the whole row if you look at the numeric tab), is there any way to duplicate these values for another keyframe down the line without having to type in a series of numbers?

Example: Say, for instance, the lights are dim for a while, followed by a two-second transition to bright lights, they remain bright for a while, followed by a two-second transition to dim lights, and so the pattern goes. I need to color correct everything, and keyframe the color correction so that it flows smoothly from one scene to the next during the lighting transitions. I know how to do it, but I seek efficiency. How can I duplicate values from one keyframe to another?

I would razor blade the main footage and put a cross dissolve between the two. This won’t affect the footage, but would dissolve between the two sets of filters.

Hmmm. Wasn’t what I had in mind, but sounds like a good idea. Thanks!

Yeah — kind of stumbled on this one day. Tried to keyframe a CC once and it took me through ALL the colors from one side to the other. Didn’t have time to figure out there must be a way of turning that off…
