So I decided that one of my sub menu pages should have the buttons fly in from off screen, settle in position and after the loop on the time line be selectable for the viewer(fairly simple stuff)

after keyframing I notice these buttons lost their highlights?(although they were still working.Intended use is 4 dvd players so your not going to know which button is selected on the menu without a mouse right!)
Other menus(non keyframed menus in the project) buttons highlights were working normally.

    what I tryed:
1.checked the button properties against other menus buttons(they were same)

2.tryed adjusting the highlights properties from rectangle to underline etc (to no avail)

    3.searched online 4 help(no help found)

4.posted here!! anybody know whats going on??

    using architect pro 5.
I really like DVD architect but it seem the more flexible u try to get the more it throws up some hickup!especially relating to chapters but thats another story!cant wait for the next version!

All highlights come in at the loop point, which you had to have moved from its default position (the beginning) in order to use keyframing. Where did you move the loop point to? Does the highlighting kick in there? Does for me (DVDA 5.0).

If you’re expecting the highlight to “move” with the button, don’t. DVD menu highlights are static.

    Hi Rob
my loop point is set to 7 seconds on the menus timeline, at which time my 3 buttons become activated (selectable).but again no highlights??

I dont expect or want the highlights to move with the key framing just that they appear after the loop.
    Im stumpped
    ANY THOUGHTS??

    Hi Robbe,

    I’m using DVD Architect 4.
Is there anyway to make a menu button highlight (I use “UNDERLINE”)switch off/fade out when the menu cycle ends and the screen fades to black momentarily before the menu begins to play again from the loop point? I’ve tried to work around this but it seems the highlights just cannot be be keyframed in the “CROP and ADJUST” menu.
I cannot understand why Sony don’t add this feature to DVD Architect.

    Thanks!

    > Hi Robbe,

I don’t know who “Robbe” is, but I’ll try to help anyhow. 😉

Well, first off, is that really what you want the menu to do, fade to black before it loops? It’s not the norm and, frankly, I think it would confuse most viewers. Only a little, but probably enough to be distracting. Generally speaking, the transition from the end of the menu back to the beginning should be as invisible as possible. But I’m sure you may have your reasons.

To answer your question, No, you can’t fade or turn off the highlight during the loop. The highlight turns on when the menu is entered and off when it’s exited. This has nothing to do with Sony or DVD Architect — this is simply how DVDs are.

    Hi Rob,

thank you for the prompt reply and sorry for getting your name wrong!

If I may, I’d like to try to explain my problem. The “fade to black” at the end of my menu background movie only lasts a second. Then there is another second before the background movie begins again at the designated loop point. It’s during that brief gap that I’d like my button highlights to turn off also. It’s just an aesthetic thing!
But my button highlights always stay on even during that gap from the end of the menu movie until the loop point is again started. So I end up with a momentarily black screen with just the highlights still on.

On movie/music dvds that I buy, the button highlights always turn off at the end of the menu cycle and then back on as the menu begins again.

I’ve read through lots of the DVD Architect “Button” and “Highlights” sections but am obviously missing something. Any help would be appreciated!

    Kind regards,
    Anthony
