I’m probably resolutely trying to force Avid to behave like Sony Vegas..

If I want to create a digital pan within an existing shot how do I insert keyframes?

At the moment I’m managing it but not sure how! In my mind it should be: position blue line at left of effects bar, choose part of image, double-click pink triangle; position blue line at right of effects bar, choose part of image, double-click pink triangle.

This doesn’t work for me: the section of image is the same at both ends. What am I doing wrong?

You still have both keyframes selected. Click on one of them again – the other keyframe should turn grey.
Now you only apply changes to the pink one.
