  • Keyframe problem after change comp frame rate 29,97 to 30p

    Hey guys!

Im having a problem and i have no idea how to solve it quick.
I have several comps and pre-comps at 29.97fps and all of them are already animated/keyframmed, but recently i had to change ALL the project settings to 30fps 30p, due to some 30p footage were not included before.

After changing the project to 30fps 30p, some keyframes got stuck between each other loosing their alignment in the timeline, resulting in some issues when rendering, like flashing images, or wierd moves at a frame interval.

One possible solution would be to change ALL keyframes to the next frame so they wont be between the frames, but the only way i know to do that is to move 1 frame individually, frame by frame, but that doesnt sound reasonable nor a smart move, considering that there are A LOT of keyframes. So here is my question: is there a possibility to do this in a easier way, with AE doing all of this automatically or something like this, moving several keyframes at the same time to the next frame, or the previous one.

Doing this manually (selecting the keyframes at the same time, and moving them aside) only the initial keyframes go to the right position, the others keep out of place.

I hope you guys have understood my problem and help me fix this!

    Thanks in advance!

Hi Dave, thanks for replying and your help.

This video is for internet purposes and that’s why i’d misunderstood about the 30fps question.
I already knew that the NTSC is always at 29.97, and had even seen that sony EX software and final cut indicate the footages captured in 30p are playbacked in 29.97, so i just changed again to 29.97 and adjusted few keyframes and now they work correctly.

So now i would like to ask you another thing; something really awful that occurs sometimes (this project included). In my last render last night, when i set a render queue of another render using mov animation @ any resolution quality, the rendered file gets really strange. Some medias blink, some frames blink with color bars, as if they were offline, like 1 frame has been rendered correctly and the following one rendered an offline media. I noticed that this usually happens to mov files, which is awkward because i queue the same comp to render twice, and i get this in one of the renders, so this could exclude an offline media mistake.

If i didn’t make myself clear explaining this, i can upload a short piece of it.

Can you guys help me again? Is it possible to be another framerate or AE problem? Maybe I’m skipping a step that causes this hehe…

    Thanks in advance!

You may be experiencing this if you are using multithreading. My CS3 had issues just like that if using anything more then 6 cores. However 6 or less, I never get the issue.

I am curious too about changing from 29.75 fps to 30 fps, and getting all the keyframes to align properly.

I am making videos using screen casts and Illustrator still images. The screen casts are captured at 30 fps, and the destination of the videos will be YouTube.

While learning my way around After Effects a couple of weeks ago I prepared a file with a lot of still image animations with many nested comps. I did it all at 29.75. But I now hear I should do the video at the same fps as the output. I have just upgraded to CS5.5.

I’d like to not have to redo all the work, plus this file is not finished. Aldo, the comps will be used in future videos of a series.

    Help?

    Thanks,

    Liz

Oh, I meant 29.97! Brain fart.

Thanks, I’m relieved to hear about the Web not caring whether it’s 29.97 or 30. I’ll continue working in 29.97fps.
