Keyframe HELL! Please help ;-)
Hi all,
I’ve used AE for years, but one problem has always caused me many headaches:
1. I have a set of keyframes moving around an object.
2. After the last keyframe, I manipulate the object which obviously creates another keyframe. Let’s say I move it down 20 pixels and right 20.
3. Instead of the object moving smoothly down and to the right, AE creates (I’m guessing) a big curve so the object actually moves left and slower at the beginning and then back over to the intended spot.When I look at the object, I can often see the path being curved or such, but it’s impossible to adjust those damn bars perfectly (besides the wasted time and the fact that I don’t want it to do that in the first place!)
I’ve fooled and fooled with it, but haven’t figured out a solution.
Please, oh please… I must be doing something wrong, or there is some fix for this – right?

Key phrases from the tutorials:
“Notice that the problem isn’t the keyframe you’ve created, but the one before it” (important once you watch and start altering the “interpolation” of the keyframes and such…

I’m on board with Dave, I prefer to have my motion paths default to linear. Then I have the option of messing with curves.
