    Hey guys,

I’m having a really annoying and time consuming bug with FCPX. Whenever I apply the “Keyer” effect on a clip and hit render, FCPX tries to render it without using any CPU power which causes ridiculous rendering time. However, when any other effects, and even any third partys are applied FPCX uses CPU during the rendering process -I can see this in the Activity Monitor panel.

I tried to uninstall all the FCPX applications and deleted all preferences etc. Nothing fixed the issue.

Has anybody out there experienced this bug and has a solution?

    Thanks,
    Ozgur

Most of the native FCPX filters use the GPU for rendering, not the CPU. What you’re describing is not a bug, just a reality that FCPX in general is more dependent on the GPU for speed.

The CPU is used more for computations such as multicam sync, stabilization and when rendering out to a Compressor render farm. Most everything else is GPU.

So if you have this issue you should consider an upgrade to a system with a more powerful GPU.
