Keyboard shortcuts to move clips vertically in the timeline?
Posted by Trevor Asquerthian on February 23, 2012 at 11:16 amCan I move clips vertically using the keyboard? (alt + up/down in FCP7 I think)
e.g. I want to move ‘shapes’ down so it is just above ‘blob’ on the primary:

February 23, 2012 at 2:11 pmUse the Shift key while dragging to constrain the movement to vertical only. (Or you could use snapping to keep its position in time.)
Keep dragging till the clip is where you want it to be, and the others will move up or down to accommodate it.
(Use the alt key when dragging to make a copy, if that’s what you want.)

February 23, 2012 at 3:48 pmCmd/Opt/Up Arrow and Cmd/Opt/Down Arrow will move a clip vertically in and out of the primary, but otherwise I’d have said the answer is no, not in the way you want, which is to shuffle connected clips up and down.
