  • Keyboard shortcuts and tools Not working after I de-link and delete audio tracks

Posted by Niklas Sullivan on August 26, 2011 at 7:41 pm

When I de-link and delete audio tracks that I do not need for an edit (editing a montage to music) my shortcuts like shift+del to get rid of free space on my timeline, and my roll tool stop working. When I try, FCP says “operation not allowed”.

    Any help?

You probably have the piece of music that you’re editing to underneath the clips, right? FCP doesn’t know how to deal with the Roll Tool or the shift-del command when there’s a sound file underneath that it wants to move around with the clips.

If you lock the music track, all should be fine.
