Keyboard shortcuts
Posted by Charley King on October 27, 2006 at 5:06 pmI have searched and cannot find anything concerning a keyboard shortcut for add edit.
I am attempting to use Premiere Pro 2 more often since I upgraded to the new Video bundle.
Help me find reasons for using Premiere instead of Vegas.Thank you guys

If you mean insert clip from source monitor to timeline at CTI position its “I” if you mean overlay clip from source monitor its “O”

October 27, 2006 at 6:59 pmI guess I should have been more explicit. Add edit is an Avid term, meaning cut the clip at the point of the curser, so you can delete, or overwrite the section before or after. The razor blade tool in Premiere Pro is a little awkward for me if a keyboard split or whatever you wish to call it could be used.
Thank you

October 27, 2006 at 11:05 pmCtrl – K will razor at the edit point (its tricky to use though)
I avoid the razor (for editing purposes) and tend to use three point edits from the source and program monitors. “I” and “O” for in and out points then “,” and “.” for insert or overlay. You have to target a track so I have short cut keys set up for that as well. “1” toggles video tracks and “2” toggles audio tracks. “~” toggles between taking Video, Audio or both.
TAB toggles between Source and Program monitors the way I set it up. (Everything is mainly up in the left corner of the Keyboard)
There are short cut keys for Lift and Extract that I could use but for some reason I forget about them. (Mental note to myself – use them more!)
