  • Keyboard Shortcut for Clip Speed?

Posted by Steve To on July 26, 2005 at 11:15 am

I use a fair bit of slow motion and wondered if there’s a keyboard shortcut to change a clips speed? instead of double clikcing it, going to motion/filters tab, changing velocity etc etc!! on my old pc i had a keyboard macro that i fed into my shuttle pro2 jog controller and voila 50% or 33% at a touch of a button…

anyone got a solution (or a shuttle pro macro!)

    thanks

With a 2 button mouse, you simply right click on the clip in the timeline and choose “Speed” to change it. Or you can hold down the control key and click the clip in the timeline.

    Thanks Walter,

i guess i wondered if there was a keyboard shortcut for doing the action to that i could highlight the clip on the timeline and it would perform :

control click > choose ‘speed’ from the list > type 50 > type return

It’s just that theres no shortcut for ‘speed’? on my old system i hit ALT+E and the speed dialog popped up, so i could set my shuttle pro2 to type all the info in and i could get 50% speed clips on hitting one button. Even if there was a filter i could create that i could apply to a bunch of clips in one go that would help?

    Thanks again

    I believe it is “Command – J”

There is a direct way at least for 50% speed, too: It is ctrl + cmd + 9.

I am sorry, this is a custom command which a coworker configured, but you can configure it yourself via:

–> alt + cmd + K (opens the dialogue to set keyboard shortcuts)
–> pick “Retime: Slow at 50%” and configure a shortcut (e.g. ctrl + cmd + 9 should be available)

Many other speeds are available there, too.
