Keyboard shortcut file location
Posted by David Ethridge on December 19, 2011 at 2:26 pmWe just switched over to PPRO5.5 and have 4 Mac pros stations.
I really don’t want to manually input each Mac to customize the keyboard map keys.
Is there a file that is written once I create a keyboard shortcut and where is it?David Ethridge

December 19, 2011 at 5:01 pmThere is… It’s not an easy find, it is under the user profile and is a .kys file type. You will need to dig deep…
I’m going to throw it out to someone else out there to give you the string, I’m not in front of my system right now. The file is out there.

December 19, 2011 at 9:31 pm~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Premiere Pro/5.5/*.kys
We regularly sync this, the Effects Presets and AME Presets (although the later is in ~/Library/Preferences/Common/AME/5.5/Presets) across our three seats of Premiere.
Good luck!

December 21, 2011 at 4:26 pmThe AME preset folder will be empty until presets are created. 🙂 We have preset workflows for specific clients and some consistent formats for deliverables.
As far as sync’ing goes we use a few 3rd Party Utilities and some custom scripts; there are lots of options although it will require having write access to users’ folders.
A simple SFTP browser will work too if you enable SSH on each Mac – this is the easiest method but will give users file-level access to others’ home directories so should be used with care.
One way would be to have presets be copies nightly to a shared location so they can be downloaded and used as required by other workstations/users. As of yet there is no cookie cutter solution that will suit all shops, but lots of possible DIY solutions that are consistent and reliable.
I do wish these settings were in a place more conducive to simplified multi-seat management but as it stands now it’s not the end of the world.
I’d be interested to hear what others are doing too!

October 15, 2014 at 9:26 pm“Signed into Creative Cloud Sync Settings
Win: Users\[user name]\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\[version]\Profile-CreativeCloud-\Win\
Mac: Users/[user name]/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/[version]/Profile-CreativeCloud-/Mac/Signed out of Creative Cloud Sync Settings
Win: Users\[user name]\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\[version]\Profile-username\Win\
Mac: Users/[user name]/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/[version]/Profile-username/Mac/
”This is for CC versions, but I imagine CS5.5 used the same location just make it how you want, copy and past the .kys file to each machine
