  • Keyboard Customization Doesn’t work in CS5

    Hey all –

I’m having some trouble getting my keyboard customization to stick in Premiere CS5. I’ve always customized my settings in CS3 and 4, and the editor is the same, but somehow, after setting them up, they don’t “stick” after hitting “OK”. When I go back into the customization, they are reset to default. Does anytone else have this problem? Any solutions?

    It’s working for me.

What operating system? Have you installed the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.2) update?

What shortcut are you trying to change, and what are you trying to change it to? If you could give exactly which clicks and keystrokes you’re trying, I’ll see if I can replicate the problem.

    Hey!

I’m running on a new PC system, Windows 7 Home Premium, and yes I have the 5.0.2 update.

I actually did some more investigation, and it turns out that mapping individual keys does work and sticks, sorry. It appears that my presets aren’t installed correctly – when I hit “Set:” and select either Final Cut or Avid presets, nothing changes. Does anyone know how to make sure these are installed correctly? I would prefer to not have to map my entire keyboard to Final Cut presets myself.

    Thanks!

You may need to clear the preferences.

This can be done by holding down the shift and alt key immediately after launching PPro. Hold them down the entire time it takes to launch PPro to the New/Open Project Window.
