  Keyboard commands not working

  This is kind of hard to explain but i’ll try. In illustrator CS2 running Mac OSX my keyboard is not working together with my mouse. I can not option drag on a layer to duplicate it or shift drag to constrain proportions or hold down the space bar to move around the canvas. This is only affecting illustrator not photoshop. Anyone know of setting that I can change or how to trash my preferences. Thanks in advance.
