    Hi CC,

I’m editing a personal project of mine. I originally called Adobe regarding another software issue and while on the phone asked them why my software keeps crashing. The woman told me to make sure to render.

So, I’m rendering now. Got that part handled.

However, it seems like I keep running into glitch after glitch after glitch. Whether it’s using a WAV file on a certain clip or an effect (RG’s Denoiser – danger zone, can’t even bother) that I guess requires a tower to use in Premiere…

…Can anybody please tell me what to look out for so my program doesn’t crash over and over and over again?

I really like Premiere for it’s motion tool flexibility, but man is it jenky. It’s like it’s made of leather sometimes. I know I should really be using After Effects for a lot of what I’m trying to put Premiere through. I’m pulling back the reigns on any kind of effects, but even so the less and less I try to pull I still manage ways to fail.

Thanks for reading and any response.

    Best,
    -maX

    You don’t say which version.

5.5 is rock solid on most hardware. It takes a lot to crash it. Most crashes happen because of video card drivers. After that it may be other harware driver issues. In a rare case it could be a plugin. But it’s very unusual when it’s the PrPro software.

It’s CS5. I’m on a MacMini with 4 GB of RAM. After Effects does fine as well as all my audio programs. However, it doesn’t take much to wreck Premiere.

I do have some Red Giant stuff installed, but…I’m not really using it yet. Still trying to get things edited.

4GB is most likely a problem. Most uses require a minimum of 8.

Cool. I thought that might be an issue.

It’s hard to say though without outside perspective. I guess I just have to really keep rending an effects on the high profile until I can upgrade.

I guess Premiere is more demanding than After Effects in that manner then cuz I use After Effects a lot and don’t have that problem. Granted, rendering takes forever, but it doesn’t just pull a total fail.

    Thanks David!

You didn’t say which exact version you’re using. Have you installed the recent updates?

Adobe CS5. I’ve installed all the updates aside from purchasing another upgrade.

I am using Premiere Pro CC on a new MacBook Pro with 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 and a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7. Small editing project has crashed four times.

Not sure what to do. This is seriously hurting my productivity.
