Keeping Audio Levels Within 2 dB
Hello,
I’m am by no means a audio person, but I have come across something that I have never done before and would like any help possible. I have created a quick 30 second commercial and I have been asked to have “No more than 2 dB of deviation on audio levels.” Is there a way to do this within Premier Pro CS6 or should I be using Adobe Audition CS6?
Any tips, tricks or tutorials would be appreciated!

Hi Benjamin,
That’s going to be fun, and probably sound like crap 🙂
The only way to achieve this is through compression. In CS6, you can use the dynamics>Compressor effect. Your goal is use play with the gain (make up), threshold, and ratio to get the levels in a tighter range. This is something that takes a bit of work, especially if you are not doing it often.
So, you start by lowering the threshold, then you bring up the gain, back and forth, bring the ratio higher if needed until you hear / see what your like.
