    Hi,

Is there a way to keep a mask in place (preferably without animating its path) on a layer which position is animated?
Imagine a 3D text layer which flies in from the center of the screen. There is a section in the middle which should be masked out. The mask should stay in the center of the screen; the text comes from behind the mask and flies off screen.
Using a range selector for the opacity is not an option because i need to do the same thing with other objects too.

    Thanks for your help.

You could apply the mask to a solid and use the solid as a track matte for the text. Then parent the solid to the text.

Or you could precomp the text and apply the mask to the precomp.
