Hey guys, short question to FCPX that bugged me until today: Can I somehow have the background render status window open constantly?
I have 2 displays usually with: Editing on one, viewer on the second. When I do background render stuff I move the status window to the second screen to glimpse at the status now and then. Whenever I open another app though, the window disappears.

Background: I edit on a old MacBook. Sometimes I have to render edited footage out to get fluid playback which can take a while. While rendering I usually browse the internets but constantly have to click back into FCPX to check the status. The viewer for example doesn’t disappear when changing apps. Any ideas?

It’s a HUD. All HUDs disappear when the focus isn’t on the app. Don’t know why, but that’s the way it is.

cmd+tab is your quickest way to peek back and see how the progress is going.

    [David Mohl] “Any ideas?”

Open Activity Monitor (command-space, a-c-t-i, return).

    Click the CPU tab.

Sort the CPU column form top down. Note the activity.

If you are using FCPX presets, “Final Cut Pro” will have a high CPU usage.

If you are using Compressor presets, you’ll see “Pro Transcoder Tool” have a high CPU usage.

When the CPU usage falls down to close to zero, your files are ready.
