  • Kaleidoscope-Effect with soft edges?

    Hello everyone,

I tried to find an Adobe After Effects filter plugin with which I can create smooth kaleidoscope effects. I downloaded omino’s Kaleidoscope now, but unfortunately there seems to be no possibiblity to soften the edges.
Please have a look at this screenshot:

Does anyone know how to soften the edges?
Or maybe another filter which works better?

    Thank you very much,

    Angelika

PS: Please note that I have AFX 6.0 (2003)

Can;t say much about the plugin you are using but you can try CC Kaleida (Effects>Stylize>CC Kaleida) which comes with AE. This won’t give you have any edges.

    Dear Vishesh,

thank you very much for your answer.
It’s just that I only have AFX 6.0 (2003) which apparently does not yet offer this CC Kaleida-filter…? Or can I download them for this old version of After Effects somewhere (I googled it but couldn’t find it)?

    Best,

    Angelika

Don’t think it is available for AE 6.0 . Here is the download link :

    https://www.cycorefx.com/downloads.php

Post this question to Adobe’s Forum to know whether it is possible to upgrade AE 6.0 to 7.0 version.

Why are you using such terribly old software?

    Hello Todd

Is there a way to upgrade from AE 6.0 version to CS3 Version? I searched everywhre including Adobe’s website but didn’t get any information. Or there is no way to migrate from such an old version to a new one?

There is no special upgrade pricing for people with After Effects 6.0. You would just buy the software as usual.

We are currently only selling After Effects CS6 (11.0), though people who buy that with Master Collection or Production Premium have the ability to also get After Effects CS4 if they are using an old 32-bit system.

    Dear Todd, dear Vishesh,

thanks for the answers and the discussion.
I however can not afford the new After Affects that’s why I have to use my old one (furthermore I have to finish this video very urgently, so there is no more time for learning new programs ;-(

I have seen no another kaleidoscope-like effect which is like mirrors and should be easier to be realised: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbQJKjORQJk
Do you know a plug in for that?

Thank you once again for answering my oldschool problems,
    best,

    Angelika
