Let me start by saying I am a fan of JVC’s products. I killed my GY-500 in a fall last year and I miss it.

I did not see anything on the boards regarding audio issues for the JVC HM 100 or 150 .

I just got my JVC HM150U this month (FEB).
The camera seems to have a very noisy audio “floor.” If I use the “attachable” audio handle unit, it is very hissy sounding . As soon as I disconnect the unit from the body, the hiss goes away.

Any mic I attach sounds ok in Auto but Manual introduces more hiss. Also if I switch from Auto to Manual the headphones switches from stereo to mixed sound.

I have double checked my phantom power settings and audio levels and my headphone settings.
I wanted to check with other owners to see if this is how it works or if my unit has a problem.

Do I need to send this unit back? or is this the way it sounds?
    Thanks for any reply.
    Cheers!

I just got the camera in Feb of 2013 and have the same problem! Have you had any luck finding a solution to this? I don’t know if it’s normal operation for the camera or something wrong.

I use Audacity noise removal to get the high pitched hiss out of the video, but it’s very inconvenient…

    Thoughts?
