    VC SR-DVM600U disc problem

I was hoping to have someone help me with this problem, but so far there has been no response. I really need some help:
All I am using this deck for right now is to dub footage from DV tape to DVD. I have been fairly successful in the past, but being new to all of this I can get snowed under pretty quick. I feel the manual is woefully inadequate to resolve issues. Today I popped in just a regular DV tape to dub to DVD and no matter if I put in a DVD-R or DVD-RW I get the same message – “Can not dub with this disc”. What am I doing wrong? Please help me, I am getting desperate!!

    Hi Randy,
Sorry for not posting sooner. Here are step-by-step instructions involving this process:

Everything works fine up to Step 6. This is where the problem occurs:

“6. Press the “Dubbing” button on the remote (very bottom of remote).
    a. Use the arrow keys on the remote to select (“DV –> DVD”), then press
    enter.
    b. Select “Entire” to dub the entire MiniDV tape and press enter.”

When I select the “DV –> DVD” and hit Enter, I get the following message; “Can not dub with this disc”. (That really is how they spell “Cannot”.) I hit “OK” and it takes me back to the selection page to choose “DV—>DVD” again. I am using Memorex DVD-RW discs and Dynex DVD-R and it doesn’t seem make a difference. I have been successful in the past doing dubs, but this one has got me buffaloed! Thanks for your help!

    Hello Randy,
I see that the link I sent you is now dead, it was a step by step for rec DV to DVD..
Did you try it? Did it work? What did you find? Did you try a different DV tape or DVD?
Since I do not own a DVM6000 it is hard for me to re-create your scenario so feedback is essential.
Can you play the tape from the camera?
Have you successfully recorded to a DVD in the past?
How about trying this link: https://www.usjvc.com/faq/index.php?action=show&cat=6

Please let us know YOUR findings.

I have been successful in the past dubbing from DV to DVD. That is why it is so frustrating. It is at that step 6 where it says “Can not read disc” and then goes back to the screen where you select the transfer. I wonder if there is a system reset?

Did you ever find out the solution to this problem? I am having the exact same thing happening and cannot find a solution anywhere!! Please let me know if you have any advice. I own my own wedding videography business and dub DV to DVD all the time. All of a sudden it won’t work and I am doing everything the same as I always do.

    Thanks!!
    Mary

WOW! I thought this thread had died a long time ago – a year to be exact! The issue has NOT been resolved and I had resigned myself to the fact that it never would be. I use the machine now to only transfer video from tape directly to my G5 Mac for editing in Final Cut Pro. I still would love to resolve this as there is still a high demand for saving raw footage to DVD instead of leaving it on the tape. I again am pleading for help with this problem.
