Problem: My JVC HDxxx doesn’t work with FCP 6.xx anymore. I can’t capture footage and it doesn’t recognize my camera.

Answer: The main culprit with FCS2 and PPC users is the ‘Log and Capture’ function. If you want to upgrade past FCP 6.0 and you record to tape you will have to get an Intel Mac or use a firestore.

It appears as though Intel Macs work and play nicely with the JVC lineup.

So for all the PPC owners using FCS2 your options for using JVC’s ProHD are:
    1. Don’t Upgrade Past FCS2 6.0 if you capture from tape
    2. Use a Firestore instead of tape if you want to upgrade past FCP 6.0

Please post more solutions for PPC users if you have them.
Good luck to everyone who has been struggling, it’s time to move forward.

We unknowingly updated our system and ran into several problems (read previous post) but I was actually able to make the system work. We are using a G5 running 10.5.5 and running 6.0.5 for FCP. It does not digitize perfect but until we buy a framestore it get’s us by. 2 problems: Got to have 5 seconds of pre-roll and once in a while it bails on a shot while digitizing. We are getting a framestore so very shortly it will be mute point.
