JVC Pro HD Tapes – What now?
Many of you probably know that JVC have discontinued making their Pro HD Mini Tapes. I’ve run out of my stock and can’t locate any more. They are the only tapes in my GY-HD111 I get the least amount of glitches with. I read that a good alternative are the panasonic HDV tapes but it looks like they’re getting rare. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is the best way to go? I’d love to get a new model cam but can’t afford just at the moment. 🙂

Hi Peter. We’ve been using Panasonic AY-DVM63PQUS tapes for quite a while for our SD projects. Now our producers are looking towards HD projects, and looking for Pro HD tapes. We’re running some older GY-DV’s, but need to start getting a consistent HD supply. I’ll be very interested to see any recommendations!!

For anyone who’s interested, I have been trying the Panasonic AY-HDVM63MQ Tapes and so far they’ve been as good or better than the JVC HDV tapes.
