JVC HD100 and Panasonic HVX200 on the same timeline?
Is this possible in CS3?
I’m editing a film was shot on the JVC camera in a 1280×720 (25fps progressive) proHD format and I want to add footage to my timeline that will be shot on the Panasonic HVX200. Is this possible at all? If so, what’s the catch?
I’m in PAL land…

As long as the frame rates match, you should be able to work in either P2, HDV, or even desktop mode, just make sure you interpret the footage correctly. Work in the format you have the most footage of.

Sure, it wasn’t ProHD, but I’ve mixed same rate P2, HDV and uncompressed on the same timeline without issues.

What about the aspect ratio? It seems to me that the panasonic HD format is 960×720 whereas the JVC is at 1280×720?

As long as it’s interpreted correctly, in the case of P2 as HD Anamorphic (1.33), and it should be by default, it will fit the frame perfectly.

I’ve added the Panasonic rushes into the timeline, and it’s working like a charm. Needs some rendering, 1min rushes equals 1min rendering time, not a big deal.
