Okay, nice little camera, unless you use a Mac that is. I’m about to go into one as it annoys me when I go to load up a peice of software that comes with a cam only to find no “OSX” logo on it.

But before I do I would like somebody to clarify something. The following is a cut/paste from technical sources at JVC:

    (“”Mac and Everio compatibility

The history is that when we launched Everio Mac had an issue with MPeg 2
audio – they could handle the picture but not the sound and all camcorders
which use MPeg audio have the same problem – this is a Mac issue!

However, on the web you can download a shareware programme which allows you
to convert the .mod files into formats compatible with a Mac. If you go into
google and type “streamclip” you should be taken to it. This allows
conversion to AVI; DV or MPEG4 (high res) files and the best part is it’s
    free!””)

Now, I was also told that Mac’s don’t know what MPEG-2 is? errrr, I don’t think so. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the above statement about this been a Mac issue, is this correct or am I being stupid? Sounds like JVC trying to pass the buck as opposed to spending some money on development for a Mac version, correct me if I’m wrong as I am not totally up to speed on this, but I have been using Macs long enough now to know that MPEG-2 audio and video is not a problem if you know what you are doing.

Bottom line, what is a Mac user to do with this cam, take it back to the shop?
