I recently purchased a JVC GY HM790U from eBay with 100 hours on it. The camera started acting up a month ago- would not operate unless I used the hold/reset buttons when firing it up. Can’t access or change any of the settings or the system reset now and when I hit either of the User buttons, the camera goes to color bars and keeps cycling though various system settings. Took the camera to an authorized service center that said the PCB board was faulty. Any suggestions aside from sending it back to JVC in Long Beach? Thanks Ben

Sounds like a classic case of PCB failure, especially with erratic behavior and inaccessible settings. If JVC repair isn’t ideal, you might try a specialist electronics repair shop that handles broadcast equipment. Also, if you’re considering DIY repair or sourcing replacement components, check out Ovaga’s discrete semiconductors section —they’ve got a solid inventory that might help if a component swap is possible.
