    Hi folks,
I am an instructor of TV production at a college and we are using three JVC GY-HM790U’s in studio configuration to shoot multi-camera material. I have THREE major problems that I hope that you can help me solve:

    1. The cameras are creating an IMMENSE amount of noise in the shadows when we record to SD card (we “iso” just for safety and when our unreliable switcher is down). I have turned the GAIN to “L” and have opened up the lens all the way to F/1.6. No luck. We are lighting a 12-foot by 9-foot space with four 1K LED fresnels. Does anyone have any ideas as to why we are getting so much noise? Could the type of SD card we are using be the culprit?

    2. We’re using the Canon KT14 x 4.4KRSJ Zoom lense that came with the camera body and we can’t control the iris manually. even when we flip the switch near the handgrip on the lens to “M”, and turn the iris ring, it still rotates to f/1.6 (which s set in the MENU in the CAMERA FUNCTION MENU under the Auto Iris Limit (OPEN) and the Auto Iris Limit (CLOSE)). We’ve also made sure that the FULL AUTO setting on the camera is OFF. How do we deactivate this auto-iris function after we have flipped he switch to manual on the lens?

    3. The SDI connection that we use to connect the camera to the switcher intermittently drops out. We think that the female BNC port on the camera has been damaged. Is it possible to replace this port? If so, how (opening up the camera, I’m sure….) and where could we possibly find a replacement female port?

    Thanks,
