JVC Gy Hm 700
Hi !
I’m planning to purchase a GY HM700. In my studio I have G5 2.0 Ghz, 2gb ram, NVIDIA 5200 with Final Cut Studio 2. I want to know if I shoot HD at 35mbps, can I edit the footage on the same machine I have.
If not what are the hardware I have to change without changing the G5.

I’ve never used this camera, but the literature says it records .movs that can be dropped into FCP. You didn’t mention what drives you have. That is where you’ll need some speed – at least a 2-drive RAID. The acid test would be to find some footage from the camera, import it to your system, and see how it goes.

I have the little siter cam the HDM100 and the same system. Just uploaded FCP 6 on it and it works fine @ 35mbs.
There are a few tweaks u have to do to make it run smoother –
u will need to add more ram at least 2gig.
Get a decent external HD. I use Gdrive or WD Studio pro 2. I like the WD’s as they are cheap and have a RAID 0 or 1 option. If you have the cash for more go for it.
In FCP go to you USER settings – RENDER controls and unclick ALWAYS RENBDER AT HIGHEST QUALITYHope the Helps
