  • JVC GY-HD110U Question

Posted by Wade Harrington on May 6, 2008 at 8:20 pm

I have a client that needs a project edited. The project was shot in HDV with the JVC GY-HD110U. I think in 720p. Can Sony Vegas 8 ingest this from the tapes (23 of them) through the cameras firewire out or the JVC deck? I have to edit also and have never worked with HDV.(do I need to convert to another formay?) I use P2 and raylight now. Any help or tips would be appreciated.

    Thanks..

Should be no problem. I haven’t worked with the 110U in a long, long time, but the 24p native support of 8 should work fine with it.

    Wade…

I use a JVC HD110, regularly. Vegas 8b has a great deal of trouble with captured m2t files from this camera….dropped frames, T/C read errors. The only reliable solution, I have found, is to use Cineform Neo HD, ie HDLINK, to transcode the m2t files before importing into Vegas.

    Neo HDV or Neo HD?

Both NEO HDV and NEO HD. I upgraded to NEOHD for my EX1, but was using NEO HDV successfully with the JVC.

Other users have reported the dropped frame problem to Sony, as well as myself, but, they’ve been unresponsive
