I think the JVC makes pretty pictures, but wouldn’t want to be working in HDV at all. The rendering times (conforming) are a big time killer in post.
Sure would be a better workflow to be shooing P2 Shawn… Costs more up front, but will save SOOOOO much time in post it’s a push in my mind.

You’ll like the speed of DVCPROHD over HDV in a hearbeat in post. Plus they come in already captured to the bay. It’s 4:2:2 colorspace where HDV isn’t.
Let’s see… No one I know in the broadcast world does anything with it but bump it to another format for post or air… It’s inherently infirior to i frame formats.Only thing I can think of negative over HDV is that DVCPROHD creates much larger files. 4 times the size or so. It’s just that you’ll not like posting HDV. More RT in DVCPROHD right now for sure and it renders 8 times faster or so than HDV.
