    Hi,

Has anyone used the JVC BR-HD50 HDV VTR with FCP 5.1.2 with 720p25 ?

I can get everything to work except remote control via HDV Firewire. It would not do any transport control but it is able to see the signal and timecode via Firewire and I can do manual NOW capture. If I tried to do a fast forward or rewind, it says unable to locate timecode.

We can get FCP to control the VTR in DV mode with a PAL DV tape so we know the Firewire cable and the VTR itself is working fine, except in HDV mode.

    Appreciate any help.

Just to add that we tried capturing directly from the JVC GY-HD101 camera and it works fine.

Question is…does FCP 5.1.2 supports the JVC BR-HD50 VTR for HDV capture ?

chrispy you should contact jvc support and make sure your running the latest firmware. It fixes lots of issues the deck had initially and I think its required for it to work properly all the way in FCP 5.1.2

    Hi Borjis,

I forgot to mention as well that the deck’s firmware was updated about 10 days ago so I’m not sure if there’s another firmware to be updated. Will check with JVC again on this.

I suppose the switch entirely at the right bottem on the front panel is set to remote?
