My Sony DSR-11 just stopped working. I only had if for a freaking year! I sent it in for repair and the heads are discontinued. So now I need a new deck. I’m looking at two, the Sony HVR-M15U or the JVC BR-DV3000U(B). I use a Sony PD170 DVCAM camera. The JVC Deck will read DVCAM, but not write; which is fine for me, I can use Panasonic Professional Tapes from now on. The Sony Deck costs a lot more, but it will work with my camera better won’t it? I was just reading a forum where this guys said that it wouldn’t work with my camera. I don’t know what to get any advice. Whatever I get I want it to last. I can’t do this again next year. I can’t afford it.

The JVC BR-DV3000U(B) works fine with as a DVCAM player or feeder into a NLE, it just won’t record DVCAM, only DV.

A bstock unit with warranty cost $1195. New in the box $1500.

The BR-DV3000 works fine as a DVCAM feeder. Has the RS422 port and takes fullsize cassettes. The run about $1500 new or $1200 for bstock.
