I can no longer bring in TIFFs it just won’t let me use them. I get a general Error message everytime. I am also findng that cross disolves when un-rendered drop straight to black then come up to picture. When I render them out however, they work just fine. Anyone else having these issues or others?
    Thanks

I have had the ‘drop to black but OK when rendered’ transition thing happen.

Also, the normal and best settings in motion filtering are worthless in my experience. They either muck up graphics or cause strobing or a slight jumping in any kind of motion effects. I only use the ‘fastest’ setting now.

There are other little bugs in FCP5 and/or Tiger. If I click and release on the left-right scroll arrows below the timeline while it is playing, I get a dropped frames error message. (Every time on two different systems). The text boxes in the log and capture window are a little weird in that sometimes if I click in a box and get what looks like a blinking cursor to insert text and then start typing, the existing text gets wiped as if the entire text box was selected although the text is not highlighted.

Overall (for my purposes) it’s not a significant upgrade relative to FCP 4.5.

(This is a clean install of Tiger and Production Suite on a new drive BTW)

The big differences are in the other pro apps, especially Motion and Soundtrack. Even Livetype is faster and has some minor improvements.

Other than the obvious UI difference, I believe there are ‘under the hood’ differences between FCP and the other pro apps that will hopefully be addressed in the next release.

    Yup. Don’t feel alone.
I’m now running FCP5 on Panther.
PSD alpha has dissapeared. If I import a layered PSD and throw the sequence direcly on the timeline, There is alpha amongst the layers, but not for the overall sequence. Going into the PSD sequence and copy & paste the elements directly onto the timeline is my temp workaround. I have a friend who is complaining about PNGs too.

Even the opaque PSDs that were in my original Motion project that is nested in the FCP timeline goes all weird. Half the image is a smudge of the last line of pixels. Trying to re-render the Motion clip from FCP makes FCP quit unexpectedly… Woa?

For now I might need to revert to 4.5 until the bugspray is out. Luckily I saved my old projects before they were updated to 5.

FCP seem to be sluggish at the end of tape situations but I am reading off a camera not a deck. tiger just locked up on me while I tryed to to connect over a network. However I had put the machine to sleep with Final cut open. Sleep always has caused prolems when FCP wasn’t closed out. Rhe werid things is I can’t force quite the finder. However As per all advice on this forum, Tiger and FCP 5 Studio is on an extra drive so no mission critcal hit.
