Just starting Out Vegas & Project properties.
hey guys,
Im not sure what to set the project properties to In Sony Vegas. Im filming with at HDR-FX1e (pal).
I am also not sure in the difference between importing at 24 fps FILM and 25fps PAl, will I get a film look using 24 and will any quality
be lost, anyother infor on the other settings would be good. If it is any help with the look I am making a travel documentary.
I have Vegas and cine score Is thereother program I need or would be helpfull to use in production of a broardcast quality DVD.
I am also Interested in colour correction and image stablization post film in hte edit process I know FCP does it what about vegas.
I imported some video and playback in the vegas program it doesnt look crisp at all, is this how it is bfore the finished product or is it because of the setting for importing the video.
I Am only starting out and havent edited before so Im going to have to go from the ground up, Do you guys know anywherer that is best for this or what is best for this. Making a little film before edition my documentary footage, the help function on vegas, maybe a video is out there or web sites dedicated to it. I want to get a grasp on everything so I can put something togeather that is Impressive.

24fps is the standard for films in the US. 25fps is standard PAL. These are two different formats. You can render from 25 to 24 but you’ll need to test to confirm you like the results. Should work fine, though. Depending on your target audience, you may want to stick with 25.
If you’re making a DVD, you’ll also need DVD Architect in addition to Vegas and Cinescore.
Vegas can easily do color correction. In fact it is VERY good at it. The PRO version has more features than the Movie Studio versions.
It can also do stabilzation but requires external products. Mercalli is good and there’s a free method using scripts and VirtualDub.
Vegas offers real-time previews but the quality settings for preview can look “soft” depending on the settings you’re using. If you use Preview (Auto) it will compromise the frame more to give you a higher framerate. If you up it to “Good” or “Best”, the picture will clear up but the framerate will drop.
Unless you’re resizing the images/photos, stick with “Good”. If you are using photos or resizing video, use “Best”.
