    Hi,

First post so here I go.

I’ve just started out with Motion and been using the fade in fade out on objects but now I want to have an object (a logo) fade out from left to right. I can’t seem to find a simple step-by-step explanation but I’m assuming this is something that shouldn’t be too difficult. Anyone care to do a walk through to aid this or point me in the right direction. I read somewhere masking might be necessary but there was not much more in explanation than that.

    Thank you in advance.

I would try a two color ramp and key frame the center point of the ramp. Make sure the right side is white and the left side is black. Use the ramp as a image mask on the logo, make sure to choose the luma option, not alpha. Selecting luminance will use the brightness value of the ramp. Please let me know if this works.

Thank you, I will give that a shot. Fingers crossed! 😉

Hi, I’m afraid it didn’t work. Created a mask with ramp as suggested so not sure what isn’t working but thanks anyway. Cheers

This can be done with a wipe effect, with the edge softness cranked up.
