I know how to add captions to a project using .scc files, but I’m just curious where it actually all happens.
Is the line 21 info being added on the build or is it actually added to the video_ts and used by the player?
Just curious how many chances there are for playback variation, for reliability sake.
Also, it appears captioning can only be read with a composite signal, (didn’t work with component on my set-up)or does that depend on the player and TV?
    Thanks

Assuming your TV/monitor has a CC decoder, it should work just fine with component Y-Pb-Pr and S-video.
I am curious as well about how scc files are interpreted by the DVD player. I also note that DVD, DV, and DVR recorders capture & reproduce line 21 data. I thought line 21 was outside the DV & DVD specs (hence the need for the scc file for authoring).
    One of life’s wonders.
