Just an idea.
After reading thru the long thread:
Plans for FCP2 Suite Use Cancelled Pending Software Fixes
and hearing about the lost renders issue, it has occurred to me that this whole problem might be related to the other problem with the failure to re-link multiple files in the same folder that some users, myself included, have experienced with FCS2.
In both cases there is a failure to maintain relationships between FCP files and source data, and they are both totally intermittent and unpredictable. Some editors seem to have one kind of problem but not the other but if they are both merely variations on the same structural problem, then the issue is fairly widespread.

Exactly Herb, that occured to me as well. Its why I’m thinking there seems to be metadata or database corruption.
