October 3, 2009 at 8:44 amThe render bar doesn’t show during the jumpy playback, no. Another thing that might be worth mentioning is that the audio plays back just fine and the time code ins the upper left corner of the sequence window also runs very smoothly. Only the image in the preview window makes trouble.

October 7, 2009 at 7:15 pmI was able to solve the problem by making several changes to my system. First I overclocked my CPU to 4×2,75Ghz (from 4×2,4Ghz), also I reinstalled the driver for my graphic card. And I moved all the footage and the temp folders for my project to a different hard drive. It seems run smoothly for about 20 seconds now. After that the playback gets a little jumpy again, but this time it’s tolerable 🙂

October 7, 2009 at 7:18 pmWhat graphics card are you using? Have you monitored Hard Disk and CPU usage during playback? In my case, both were well within their limits, with CPU utilization being less then 40% during playback.

October 7, 2009 at 7:22 pmI had a CPU utilization of around 65% before I made the changes. I didn’t check the hard drive. I’ll do that tomorrow at work. My graphics card is an NVIDIA 8800 GTS with 640MB.
