jumpy footage shot with sd camera, captured with hd camera
Our videogapher shot a wedding with his SD camera, then we put his tape into our HDV Canon XH A1 and captured it into FCP. After editing it, it plays fine in the timeline, but once exported (using compressor) and burned onto a DVD, the video plays very jumpy and the light at the top of the screen flickers the whole time it’s playing.
We’ve tried many of things like changing the field order, de-interlacing in FCP and in Motion, changing the way we export it, etc. Also any slow motion used looked horrible so we took those clips out.I’m starting to think it’s because we are trying to use SD footage.?
Any help would be very greatly appreciated! -

Give us more info please. Do you know what format was shot? What are your sequence settings? Was sequence automatically matched to captured clip setting by FCP? How are you monitoring in Final Cut? Do you have a proper monitor or are you only using the Canvas? Is Canvas set to 100%?
It does sound like it could be a field order issue.
