Ripple Training and Mixing Light both have many paid tutorials that go into more detail about how to edit in Resolve, but I don’t know anybody who’s specifically done a “Switching from Avid to Resolve” tutorial (yet).

I use them both…colour I Resolve, Buti still prefer to cuti n Avid.

I always question the need to pick 1 over the other

Yeah, Ideally I would like to stay that way it’s just the round trip I need to fineness I wish there was a way to just save metadata to the files instead of exporting new files out of Davinci. Also, I am having issues with gopro footage in Avid, I don’t use that footage much but I just got a new client where I think it is going to become a common format.

If you want to use Resolves tool set, you are going to have to allow it to render the footage out, unless you are doing very basic color, and a cdl would suffice for you.

Thats just the way it is. If you have any other round trip issues, let me know, I’ve been doing round trips to and from Resolve with Avid Ds and Avid Media composer since 2011 or 2012 I think.

What issue do you have with go pro?

I usually run that footage through a program to add proper names and time code before doing anything with it.

Resolve is still fairly new in the editing segment and it does lack many important features that Avid has had for years. Nothing beats Avid for video editing work especially for shared projects with multiple users. Blackmagic should stick to what they do best which is specifically color grading software.
