Joystick
I’m fairly obsessed with input devices and have, on and off, played with using a joystick in Vegas and toyed with the idea of building a little control surface, but it seems like since about version 6, this has been, more or less broken.
Currently on Vista (and all DirectX versions of Windows, I think, which is, well, all of them), the USB joystick gets detected and works in Vegas by holding down Button 1 and moving the stick. You can pan or surround sound or do your primary color correction. Not sure it’s really useful, but a fun way to procrastinate. The borked bit is that none of the joystick profiles do anything. I can add my own profile or create a default, but nothing I change has any effect at all. In fact, deleting all of the *.ini profile files doesn’t change anything, so I suspect the joystick behavior is now simply a hardcoded DirectX default that cannot be modified and the /Joystick Profiles/ folder is a vestigial organ from earlier Vegas evolution.
Anyone have any insight here?
