joining groups of clips

There is nothing called a “clip” in Sony Vegas Pro so I assume you mean Events. If you do, you can Group them by selecting all of them and pressing the ‘G‘ key. You can also nest them in a separate project and drop that project into a new project and it will appear as one event. If you split events you can rejoin them by deleting the split events and extending the original event. If the events come from separate media files there is no other way to join them.
