Alright, I have footage from my camera that contains audio and I have audio from a separate recorder that I want to sync up.

I know of two ways to do this. One, set in points on video and audio and then merge by in points.

    OR

Drop them into the timeline and join them.

However, the video footage already has audio associated with it that I don’t want to use. I could have just ran it through compressor and dropped the audio but there are a few times where the slate isn’t visible and having the poor audio still attached helps significantly to sync faster.

Is there a simple solution to disable the camera audio so when I drag a joined clip into the timeline it doesn’t even show up? I know I can drag both audio/video to the timeline, unjoin the original video/audio and delete the audio. Then create a new subclip. However, is there an easier way?

    Thanks
    Eric

ON the left side of the timeline, you see the A1, A2…and a1 and a2 tabs? Disconnect the tabs from the timeline and only VIDEO will be added. This is one of the VERY basics of video editing. Moving those tabs to different tracks, connecting and disconnecting them, is how you get audio and video to different layers, and how you lay down ONLY video or only audio.
